Back-up/Restore Contacts Using Smartphone Studio

Smartphone Studio is a tool that lets you manage your SMS and Contacts from your computer. Here's how you can back-up your Contacts with it (also supports Contacts from SIM). If you already have SP Studio installed, jump to step 3.

1. Download Smartphone Studio and extract it on any folder you want. From Developer Site or sendspace
2. Install CommMan.CAB on your smartphone
3. On your PC, go to the folder where extracted SP Studio files and run SPStudio.exe.
4. Open CommMan from your phone. For Tanager users, you may need to press Menu > Connect. Connection status can be seen in both application, CommMan (on your Smartphone) and SPStudio (on your PC).
5. On Smartphone Studio screen, click Contacts (bottom left part, under all SMS folders).
6. Click Phone or SIM Contacts and wait until all contacts are downloaded.
7. Click All Items in Folder if you want to back-up all Contacts or Selected Items if you've made any selections.
8. Click Continue
9. Select folder where you want to back-up your Contacts. Enter filename say, contacts-backup and click Save. You'll see a pop-up message telling you that you have successfully backed-up your Contacts.
10. Restoring your Contacts. You may do this at later time. If you want to test it now, just delete all Contacts from phone or in SP Studio then do the following steps.
11. From SP Studio screen, click File > Import.
12. Browse to where you saved your Contacts back-up. Select the file (ex. contacts-backup.spd) and Click Open. You will see your back-up Contacts this time.
13. Click Import.
14. Select where you want to restore your Contacts (Phone or SIM).
15. Wait until restoring process is done. Now, check you phone. You should have your Contacts restored in place.

Create your own ringtone

I describe a simple way to create your own ringtone using the Sound Recorder application in your computer and any wav converter available. If you are using Windows Mobile for Smartphone 2003 on your Motorola mpx200, you can use WMA file as ringtone.
1.	Download any available (or free) wav converter. You may try this one. http://www.tucows.com/preview/196029.html
2.	Convert any song (mp3, CD) to .wav format
3.	On your PC: click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Sound Recorder
4.	On the Sound Recorder: Click File -> Open… (select the song which is already in .wav format)
5.	Position the slider to where the chorus starts (or where you want it to start)
6.	Click Edit then select Delete Before Current Position (this will delete the part of the song just before the chorus)
7.	Position the slider to where the chorus ends
8.	Click Edit then select Delete After Current Position (this will delete the rest of the song just after the chorus)
9.	Click File -> Save As…and enter
10.	Change Format to PCM. Select desired attributes (the higher the quality the bigger the file size). Click OK and Save.
11.	Copy the .wav into your phone \Mounted Volume\My Documents.
